Doug Ford’s Ontario PC team is investing nearly $16 million to expand safe, reliable transit in rural, northern and underserved communities as part of its more than $70 billion investment in public transit, connecting more people to jobs, housing and essential services while protecting Ontario’s economy.
The investment will support five transit projects benefiting 30 communities across the province, helping municipalities, Indigenous communities and non-profit organizations expand local transit services where they are needed most.
In the Region of Waterloo, $3.4 million will help introduce or expand transit service in Woolwich, Wellesley, Wilmot and North Dumfries, improving transportation options for residents in growing rural communities.
This investment builds on the Ontario PC government’s plan to strengthen transportation across the province, including doubling annual funding for the Ontario Transit Investment Fund and bringing back the Northlander passenger rail service after the previous Liberal government cancelled it. While the Liberals cut transit services, Doug Ford’s Ontario PC team is investing in reliable transportation that connects communities, supports local economies and helps more people get where they need to go.
